The Watson Building was built in 1927 by Norton Baker, Owner-Manager of Baker Furniture.
- 1928
In 1928 the building was leased to Montgomery Wards to become one of Lubbock's first department stores. After Wards relocated to Broadway the building was transformed to Groce Furniture throughtout the Depression years.
- 1940’s-1970’s
- 1992-Present
The building sat vacant in a growing state of disrepair until the current owners purchased the property in 1992. The restoration and renovation of this Lubbock landmark has been an ongoing project for the past 30 years. Hundreds of thousands of people have celebrated hundreds of weddings, receptions, parties, and other special events at The Watson Building over the past quarter century. Original Design
The building has original decorative trim on the walls as well as the original hardwood floors from the 1920s which were recently refinished.

The central room on the main floor is enormous; there is plenty of room for 15-20 tables as well as a large area for dancing.
